Clients of The Arc at Work:
Mission Possible!

“I always wanted to be a spy, but instead I found my mission as a messenger, and I’m proud to say I’ve been at my job for 15 years. Mission Possible!”

And with that, Mike Lau from Morrison & Foerster kicked off the 2008 WorkLife Awards to a standing room only crowd at The Arc of San Francisco on March 20th. The WorkLife Awards recognize clients of The Arc in the workforce, and the dedicated employers who support hiring people with developmental disabilities. The event highlighted the achievements of many long-tenured clients, including “Steady Eddy” Paul Detwiler who has worked at Pets Unlimited for 34 years. Other employees with three, five, ten, fifteen and tweny years on the job were congratulated with standing ovations from an exuberant audience.

“The job retention of these clients really is something to celebrate,” said Ellen Hanscom, Chair of The Arc’s Business Advisory Council, “and we want to share this secret with as many businesses as we can.”
